the smiths - barbarism begins at home.

One of my favourite openings to any album.

Shields.

Ok, Shields is definitely one of the best things I’ve heard in a long time. ‘Yet Again’ and ‘Half Gate’ are stunning.

enrollment.

So today was my enrollment for GSA. I’ve had a few family problems over the last week, particularly sunday night, so I wasn’t really in a very good mood this morning and wasn’t enthusiastic about it at all. In the end it went quite smoothly but was nothing exciting. I’m hoping that my enthusiasm will pick up over the next week so that I can start things off in the right frame of mind. Feeling stressed out tonight so I think I’ll just relax and hope some beer can help.

Also, I’ve been listening to the new Grizzly Bear album all day and it has certainly helped to improve my mood.

This image is a little random. I’m not sure what I think of it, but experimentation is always a good thing. I think I’ll come back to it in a few days and see how I feel about it.

Seeing this tomorrow night. Can’t wait.

this is happening.

thursday - Went to a leaving night for Deans who is going to Canada for some reason I forgot to actually ask. Pretty good night, we went to Brunswick Cellars and then Firewater. Memorable parts of the night include lots of singing in Cellars and dancing to Iggy Pop in Firewater.

saturday - On saturday there was a house warming party at Iain and Lyndsey’s. It was pretty fun, I was sensible and didn’t drink too much. Lots of chilled out talking and some dringing games. Got the last train home at a reasonable hour and witnessed some fighting on Sauchiehall Street which was amusing. Sometimes it feels like there’s a riot going on in Glasgow but nobody is quite sure what it’s about so they all just shout nonsense and fight.

sunday - Watched the F1 which is a sunday ritual which has been missed lately. Then Ashley and I headed over to see her little brother (he’s 2) and we played with his trucks for a while and he dressed up as a spider. Headed to town after that and met NicoleĀ who is back from Italy for a little while. Went to Nando’s and then Dimaggio’s for dessert. Got a couple of drinks in a bar and then headed home. Was good to catch up with her, looking forward to maybe doing another photoshoot with her next time she’s in Scotland.

today - Haven’t done too much today really. Got home this morning and my mum wasn’t too well and the doctor had to visit so that’s a little sad but she seems ok now. Had a bit of trouble with my sister which put me in a bad mood so just having a chilled out night now. Oh and I watched Breaking Bad which was awesome (though not quite as good as episode 7) but I’m sad because it’s the last episode until next summer.

tomorrow - Meeting Pierre (who is also back in town for a while) for lunch and a catch up. Should be good, haven’t really been in touch with him over the summer so it’ll be nice to hear what he’s been upto. At night Ashley and I are going to see Shut Up and Play the Hits at the GFT which will be amazing and I can’t wait, it’ll be a final chance to say goodbye to LCD Soundsystem. Also, Kirsty arrives back in Glasgow tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get to catch up with her soon too.
